What is the best way to replace a missing tooth?
There are many consequences of missing teeth, such as shifting of remaining teeth, inadequate chewing, poor esthetics, makes speaking difficult, and eventually bone loss.
At All American Dental, Dr. Wietholder offers three ways to replace a missing tooth.
Removable Partial Denture – This is a denture that you can take out of your mouth. It is often the most cost-effective option if you need to replace several missing teeth. Because the fit can change over time or become damaged, you should bring your partial to each dental appointment.
Fixed Dental Bridge – This option utilizes the two teeth on either side of your missing tooth to support an artificial tooth in place of the missing one. The supporting teeth must be reshaped to be able to receive the “bridge” and it will be attached with crowns.
Dental Implant – This option has become increasingly more popular and cost-effective in recent years. It involves a small titanium screw placed under the gums that supports an artificial tooth. The teeth on either side do not require reshaping.
